We set out before sunrise for the Kudremukh peak trek — one of the classic treks in the Western Ghats. Rolling shola grasslands, river crossings, and a summit that looks like something out of a postcard.
The trail
- Distance: ~18 km round trip
- Vibe: a quad-burning, soul-soothing climb
- Best season: post-monsoon, when everything is impossibly green
The streams were freezing, the leeches were enthusiastic, and the views were absolutely worth it.
Notes to self
- Carry more water than you think you need.
- Salt for the leeches. Trust me.
- Stop more often to just look around.
